Large steel company hardens their ERP with direct HANA migration!

Inside SAP has just reported on Panaya’s 50th SAP HANA migration – performed in record time.

CSN migrates to SAP HANA with Panaya
CSN, one of Latin America’s largest steel companies, hardens their SAP system with a HANA migration

Compendia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN), one of the largest integrated steel companies in Latin America, wanted to innovate and knew that updating their SAP ERP was essential to ensure that IT didn’t become a business bottleneck. Initially, they were considering an EHP upgrade but after a thorough analysis they decided to do a direct migration to HANA to advance business innovation and ensure a clear path to S/4HANA. The migration was completed in just under nine months.

“Panaya CloudQuality Suite offered clear visibility from the initial assessment of the HANA upgrade, through the go live process,” said Sebastiao Casagrande, IT coordinator at CSN. “Panaya’s precise scope and testing accelerators ensured that we went live with no surprises.”

Using PCQ to ensure objective assessment, planning and execution, the organization was able to estimate time, effort, and risk to better understand the business case. SAP HANA is a primary growth driver for its ERP Applications but businesses are still struggling to articulate the business case and estimate the time a HANA migration requires. Because Panaya can reduce project time, effort, and risk by over 50%, HANA adoption increases. Panaya’s free assessment service and big data analysis helps organizations quickly identify the value of a HANA migration and the path to the move, before making major investments in project planning.

“CSN wanted innovation with the upgrade to SAP HANA, and using Panaya they were able to take the more direct and aggressive route, meeting their goals without a hitch,” said Doron Gerstel, Panaya CEO.

Thanks to Panaya CloudQuality™ Suite, CSN migrated to SAP HANA with an ECC6 upgrade to EHP 7. This enabled the HANA platform. Simultaneously, other systems such as HCM, BW, Portal and the ERP with Unicode were all upgraded with the same successful go-live date.
