The Challenge

The Entegris IT team was gearing up for another SAP upgrade – this time from ECC 5.0 to ERP 6.0. They weren’t looking forward to the exhausting testing and long hours. “Initially, we were going to do this upgrade the same way we had done it in the past,” says Don Knutson, Director of Enterprise Business Systems. “That means we’d be testing all systems, fixing what breaks, scrambling to address everything.”

But when Knutson talked with Panaya, the project changed. “Our CIO had already put a bug into my ear about Panaya,” says Knutson. “When Panaya told me they could save us a bunch of time on our upgrade by showing us what would break beforehand, it sounded too good to be true.”

The Solution

After learning more about each service under the Panaya, Entegris were convinced that it would save them a huge amount of time, but more than that, would enable them to focus their testing efforts. And, using the test recording features, would streamline testing documentation which would enable super users to be directly involved.

“It wasn’t a case of, ‘in theory, here’s what could happen,’” Knutson says. “Panaya told us: ‘Here is your data, and here are the steps you’ll need to take. Here are your obsolete transactions, here are your Z programs, here’s what needs to be corrected, and here are our recommendations within your own code base. Eventually, all the solutions offered by the Panaya CloudQuality Suite™ solution really became key to the entire project.”

The Results
