Critical Patch released

Oracle’s Record Security Patch Update

It’s a record for Oracle!

Oracle released their quarterly Critical Patch Update Advisory on April 19, 2017

A record 299 security fixes were reported this quarter with 40 vulnerabilities considered critical. This is quite the large patch, sure to keep system administrators busy with the necessary bug fixes. In fact, Oracle is urging admins to install theses patches “ without delay” to prevent over 100 remotely exploitable flaws.

Oracle updates are getting larger and larger. Back in July of last year Oracle released a record critical update which contained 276 fixes. And as with previous updates, Oracle is reporting that customers apply this latest upgrade asap as it has been reported that the flaws found can be used by a remote attacker without requiring credentials.

Staying current is the only way to stay Secure

Digital transformation requires your systems to integrate and interface with many other business applications within your organization. Today, your Oracle EBS has multiple interfaces to many other systems, both on premise and in the cloud, which can greatly impact organizations’ security and expose them to security breaches.

In fact, Panaya’s research shows that 70% of enterprise organizations today are exposed to security vulnerabilities and critical risk! Organizations tend to bundle critical patch updates, installing them only once or twice a year. To stay secure, Oracle continuously emphasizes the urgency of updating on time with a “stay current” policy using the Oracle releases.

One of Oracle’s key aspect of their critical patch program is predictability.

This is Oracle’s way of helping their customers stay current and avoid security gaps, allowing their customers to know, a year in advance, the CPU release schedule and have enough time to plan for it.
