In 1974, engineers Erivaldo Arraes and José Carlos Pontes created the Marquise Construction Company, headquartered in the state of Ceará. Four years later, the company widened its area of activity and started building popular housing in the states of Maranhão, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte.
Despite focusing on civil construction at the beginning, the company has always tried to diversify and widen its area of activity to other business sectors. This is what made Marquise turn into a business group made up of 11 companies that provide services in the area of infrastructure engineering, incorporation, environmental services, hotel sector, finances, communication and shopping centres.
Throughout its almost 40 years of history, the Marquise Group has consolidated itself as a sound company, which invests constantly in the enhancement of its processes. Originally from the state of Ceará, the company has offices in 12 Brazilian states and employs over six thousand people.
Challenges
Carlos Magno is Grupo Marquise’s IT Manager. He runs a team of ERP professionals that is responsible for Grupo Marquise’s Oracle EBS system. Grupo Marquise has six thousands employees and the IT/ERP team never has a moment’s rest. “In addition to our six employees, we have many key users. As you can imagine, they’re busy and it is always a challenge to align them with our ERP needs. No Oracle EBS R12 upgrade is easy and I spent months researching every possible way that we could mitigate our risk and time. We’ve been on an older version of EBS for a long time, and we had a big project ahead of us.”
